The Housing Authority offices will be closed on Thursday, November 9th, 2023, in observance of Veterans Day.
Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day), is a federal U.S. holiday observed annually on November 11 to honor military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
In other countries, holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day also commemorate the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I, officially ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. Legally, two minutes of silence is recommended to be observed at 2:11 pm EST. On June 1, 1954, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day.
